Nearly 100 residents and their friends enjoyed "Saturday Night Live at DOF", a fun-filled cabaret evening at Living Choice Fullarton on Saturday 9th March. Judging from the high praise from many who attended, the Cabaret evening looks set to become a regular event.
Organised by Sandra Maynard, Helen Bonet and Gill Miller, the cabaret invitation encouraged everyone to "Grab your coat and get your hat, leave your worries on the doorstep, come and listen, sing along with, or dance to the Kerin Bailey Quartet". The attendees certainly did that, with almost everyone up on the dance floor.
"It was a brilliant “TEAM” effort all round ... the restaurant staff said it was the buzziest feeling ever; the musicians said the atmosphere was electric; the diners sent endless appreciative notes afterwards about the show, the food and the “new” stage and the organisers thoroughly enjoyed setting it up, "said Sandra.
Sandra's comments were echoed by fellow residents. Lois and Michael Gasking wrote, "it was a wonderful evening - from the fabulous jazz quartet whose music just got everyone’s feet tapping at the marvellous sound of the piano/keyboard, saxophone, electric guitar, double bass and drums - wow! The food was very delicious and Damien and his team did a great job. The “waiting” staff were terrific and didn’t miss a beat all evening - they were so professional in everything they did as well."
Another appreciative resident was Micheleine Hannaford who described the event as a "wonderful start to the Cabaret season at Living Choice. The setting, the participants and the wonderful atmosphere amongst the lucky guests, made for a brilliant atmosphere. The jazz group was on top form, playing for the whole crowd with memorable songs for dancing. It was so enjoyable, with everyone mixing in with each other, enjoying Damien’s food, conversations, smiling, laughing and having a good time."
The new stage curtains and lights were paid for by the Crafters and certainly set the tone for future events. Look out for dates of future cabaret evenings!
