Newly appointed Living Choice QLD Home Care Coordinator, Roslyn Mitchelson, has had a stellar career, working for the Australian Trade Commission, NSW Government and Medical Technology Association. However, she says her decision to change to a career in home care has been extremely rewarding.
“My past careers were completely different but still very relevant to what I am doing now. As a Home Care Coordinator, I still have to focus on compliance, doing the right thing by both the residents and Government and I have a responsibility to uphold Living Choice’s good reputation,” she says.
Roslyn has certainly had an interesting career. As an Export Advisor to the Australian Trade Commission and NSW Government for many years, she travelled widely, living in Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle, Townsville, Darwin and the Philippines. She also worked for the Primary Industry Bank and was Industry Policy Advisor for the Medical Technology Association.
Recently, she decided to step over from the “theoretical” side to the “practical” side and completed a Certificate III in Aged Care. “I was really attracted to Living Choice and liked their ethical and philosophical approach to home care.”
Nine months ago, Roslyn was appointed to the home care team at Living Choice’s Central Coast villages. “It was great to be there from the beginning and I enjoyed helping people to maintain their quality of life. Every single day I drove home with a smile on my face!”
Roslyn has also achieved much in her personal life. She is a former State hockey player, coach and umpire and is a Student Exchange Coordinator. She is also an expert knitter, specialising in creating the most amazing socks! She has two much-loved and pampered cats.
Roslyn is now based at Living Choice’s villages in QLD and her role as coordinator is to promote Living Choice Home Care services to residents at both Kawana Island and Twin Waters. The services are not only available to those who qualify for a Home Care Package – they are also available on a user-pays basis at competitive rates. For more details, contact Roslyn on 0499 599 546.
