Residents celebrate Deepwater Court’s 20th Anniversary
There is a strong sense of community at Living Choice Deepwater Court and it’s been 20 years in the making with residents and staff members celebrating the retirement village’s 20th Anniversary at a festive lunch on 2nd June.
Fittingly, one of the first residents, Joy Lewis – who moved into the village in 1995 – was given the honour of cutting the anniversary cake with Living Choice director Graham Hobbs and village manager, Andy Dudney. Andy paid tribute to Joy for her contribution to the village over the years, both as the secretary of the Residents’ Committee and also as newsletter editor for many years. He said Betty was famous for her peanut biscuits which she made for residents celebrating their birthdays – and he revealed that somehow, he seemed to celebrate a birthday every week!
Graham Hobbs praised the residents for their strong support of the village and each other. “There’s a real sense of community and I just love coming here. What you have achieved is the kind of community spirit that we all enjoyed many years ago. You have time for each other and you feel loved.”
