Newly appointed Living Choice SA Home Care Case Manager, Jacqui Bowden, has had rich and rewarding career, working as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife in hospitals, in the community and as a Manager of Community Services. Jacqui is well-known in community care circles in SA, VIC and TAS for her focus and commitment to quality services.
Over the last 12 years Jacqui has worked extensively to support older and vulnerable people to live fulfilled lives – their way, and in their community setting of choice. Jacqui has been part of the Aged Care Reform which places the older person in the ‘driver’s seat’ when it comes to designing the right support at the right time and in the right way for them.
Jacqui has a long history of ensuring that, regardless of type, support is delivered with excellence, according to quality standards and in line with client goals. Her work with Community Aged Care Providers saw Jacqui support clients and staff across Metropolitan Adelaide, Metropolitan Melbourne East as well as services in the areas around Launceston and Hobart, Tasmania. Being a Registered Nurse and Midwife, Jacqui uses her extensive clinical skills to assist clients in the design of their care support.
“Age is no barrier when it comes to seeking to live a great life,” says Jacqui. “People of all ages should be empowered and encouraged to appreciate their current circumstances, see their future self as being the best they can be and then set goals and work out plans on how to make that future vision a reality.”
Jacqui worked as a Regional Manager for the Regional Assessment Service on behalf of My Aged Care. She worked closely with the Department of Health and the office of the Minister of Health in the implementation and delivery of the national assessment framework for older people to access subsidised Aged Care services.
In addition, Jacqui has worked in the areas of Chronic Health management, Dementia Care, Social Isolation, Disability Care, Veterans Care, Elder Advocacy and Workforce Development, including staff recruitment, training and development.
Prior to joining Living Choice, Jacqui worked as a consultant with several community care providers to design and commence new service programs, review services, analyse services against quality standards in preparation for government audits and support providers to meet and exceed quality care delivery.
In her personal life Jacqui is busy! “I am married to a wonderful man and have a great adult son. My life is full and I’m active in my local church. I love preparing meals for friends and family at our home.” Jacqui is also continuing with her studies in Biblical Leadership.
Jacqui is based at Living Choice’s villages in South Australia and her role as Case Manager is to promote Living Choice Home Care services to residents at both Fullarton and Woodcroft. The services are not only available to those who qualify for a Home Care Package – they are also available on a user-pays basis at competitive rates.
